We braved the July heat and set out early in the morning, hoping to escape it - but we didn’t. It was so hot and sticky out, but somehow we managed to get some great images anyway. This little guy was one busy boy. Adorable, loves Mickey Mouse and made some of the funniest faces I’ve seen in awhile.
We went out to University of Tampa, since Cheri attends school there. It is a beautiful campus with so many great locations and textures.
Carla and Cheri, it was so nice meeting you and your little J. I had a great time, even though we were melting. I hope you enjoy your sneak peek.

With permission from Melissa and Andy, I am sharing the birth story of Oliver. You may remember him from my previous post. This little guy was welcomed on July 8th, to his adoring parents and big brother.
The boys exchanged gifts on Oliver’s birth day - Oliver “gave” his big brother a Thomas the Train toy and big brother gave Oliver a gigantic stuffed monkey. I thought this gift exchange was genious considering the boys are just 2 years a part. It makes it easier to welcome a new baby in the home, when they arrive baring gifts.
Melissa and Andy - You are a beautiful family and I was honored to be present for Oliver’s birth - THANK YOU!
Without further adieu, here is Oliver’s birth story.

Yesterday I had the honor of documenting Oliver’s journey into this world. What a miracle and blessing! I had never attended a birth at a birthing center until this one. There is an enormous difference in the way this birth took place compared to all the others I have experienced. Oliver was born at Labor of Love in Tampa. Bea and her group at Labor of Love are amazing to see in action, so calm and caring, soft voices and encouragement along the way. I was moved by her presence, she was an incredible support to Melissa.
When I arrived, the room was in near darkness. For all you photogs out there, the images were shot wide open with a 50mm prime lens at 1.4 with an ISO of 6400 - seriously!
The darkness of the room had a calmness about it that made this an even more beautiful experience. The midwife was using a small flashlight to see the progress. Oliver was born and no one stuck things down his throat or nose to suction him out, they let nature take it’s course. It was wonderful to witness, nothing clinical about it.
I barely made it to his birth in time. Only about 25 minutes passed by the time I walked in the door until he was born. It was a close one. Here’s one quick peek at the new little guy. He is quite the champ, weighing in at just over 9 pounds and 22 inches in length.
And he was born on 7-8-9, how cool is that?

Whenever I have a portrait session of any kind, I create a slideshow for my clients so they can view all of the images set to music that I think represents the session and their personalities.
Here is one from a recent newborn session. Enjoy!
We trekked out to Siesta Key for their maternity session. The beach is beautiful and the sand is oh so white and soft. We didn’t expect to see beach bunnies. I had no idea that bunnies actually lived at the beach. They were everywhere. We tried to keep from melting in this Florida heat, but it was tough. We finally made it into the air conditioning at their home where I was treated to Matthew playing and singing the lullaby he has written for the little Miss that will arrive shortly. So, sweet!
Toni and Matthew - it was so nice hanging out with you and thank you for allowing me to capture this special time in your lives. I can’t wait for the phone call that she’s on the way and look forward to photographing her birth for you.
Here are a few of my favs from our session - Enjoy!
